I found this sculpture installation by emerging American artist
Saree Silverman and thought that I would share it with you. This beautiful piece is made from hundreds of individually crafted ceramic Ginkgo leaves; I love the way in which they catch the light in the images and I can imagine them swaying gently if caught by a breeze. Saree says that nature and personal experiences such as moments of transformation inspire her work as well as exploring the balance between fragility and strength. I find this piece really intriguing and it reminds me of so many things at once: leaves caught by a gust of wind, the patterns of birds in flight or butterfly migrations. The whole piece manages to capture a wonderful sense of movement and grace and I like the fact that something made out of such delicate individual pieces can create something that looks so powerful.
