Calling all booklovers! If like me you love gadgets but aren’t so keen on the look of the plugs and chargers that come with them, this may be for you, an iPhone doc disguised in the form of a book. Instead of mouldering unloved on a shelf or being sent to landfill, the people at Rich Neely Designs have given these books a new lease of life. Don’t worry, books which have a rare antiquarian value are not used for the designs, instead Rich and Brenna find potential book chargers in garage sales, thrift shops, or even in boxes on the side of the road. I personally love the fact that unappreciated books can be reincarnated in this way and seeing so many childhood favourites in their collection makes me want to revisit the real thing.
When you’re not using the book charger you can just slip it onto your bookshelf until your gadget needs another boost. Here are some images of my favourite book docs: feature image ‘Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens Charging Dock for iPhone and iPod’, image one ‘To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee booksi for iPhone and iPod’, image two ‘Jane Austen’s Mansfield Park booksi for iPhone and iPod’ and image three ‘Jane Austen’s Northanger Abbey booksi for iPhone and iPod’. These unique and unusual book chargers would not only look great in a study, on a coffee table or in the bedroom, the ornate covers will also add a lovely vintage twist to the styling of your room.
