Yesterday I had the opportunity to attend a press preview of Alessi’s new collection. The highlight was definitely the lighting pieces, as it is the very first time this renowned Italian brand explores this product category. The collection comprises 4 pieces, all very different from each other, and I’m guessing this one – “I Love Animals” by Pier Paolo Pitacco – will be an immediate succes. Who wouldn’t like a bird shaped table lamp, right? The wire frame is carefully handcrafted and covered by stretched fabric. According to the creator, the frame represents the skeleton and the fabric represents the feathers. Three fabric designs each create an unique due to a programmable, colour-changing LED bulb inside. Like it? it will be available for £125 within a couple of months.
