Get the Hang of It!

Do you know the feeling, when something is so simple, beautiful, but clever in the same time, that you slap your forehead and sigh: why did I not think of that? Andras Kerekgyarto made a very sophisticated chair design, which can accomodate your clothing without creasing. The bar at the back is also very functional, because you can grab it and put it away easily. If you watch the pictures closely, you can see, the seat is curled up a little. This makes the posture more comfortable and healthier, because of the opened angle of your upper and lower body. Andras says: “With the variation of the basic elements or by cutting them shorter such versions can be achieved effortlessly, which can satisfy most of the varying spatial needs of cafes, restaurants and bars. Ease of manufacture was an important factor during the design process and indeed the chair is a simple and durable piece, which can be produced in quantities with conventional methods and materials”. Andras graduated to years ago at Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design at Budapest and now he is studiing at the Alvar Aalto University in Helsinki. He is commited to furniture design and won various prizes, although he is still in school.
