I’ve recently written an article about Israeli Design and got in touch with the lovely people from Bakery Studio. So today I was really glad when I received an email from Gilli Kuchik telling me about their latest project, this beautiful piece of furniture name 8 Bit. Well, it’s self explanatory isn’t it? But I prefer to give you the designers’ definition: “The 8 Bit project is rooted in a dialogue with the work of designer Shiru Kuramata. Through this imaginary dialogue with his designs we learned a simple yet illusive truth about drawers: each drawer is an individual entity, that once combined with another drawer or drawers, form a new whole. This truth led to a search of the individual/fragment/pixel within the group/whole/picture. The result is a collection of individual drawers each in a different color that together form a new pixilated image.” Poetic, functional and eye catching!
