Poise chair

I came across the Poise Chair by South African designer Louw Roets and thought I’d share it with you. Louw says that the chair was inspired by the philosophy of design by Isamu Noguchi where “everything is sculpture”. I think the Poise chair really captures that aesthetic, gracefully balancing function with a beautiful curved form. The manufacturing of the chair was also thoughtful, channelling the Bauhaus movement and using oak veneer, solid oak leg tips, steel, and moulded and heat pressed plywood. The removable chair upholstery also features kudu leather. The finished project looks like a work of art with elegant lines and a solid sculptural feel, and what’s more it also looks super comfy.
