When I open the mail that artist Yong Joo Kim sent me, introducing with a few lines her work “Sublime Experiment”, I was fascinated by the lines of necklaces, looking like sculptures and seemingly so light. I find some more news and find the story behind this project, and that’s when I decided to write about it. What may seem like a simple, yet wonderful, jewelry line, is actually a reflection on different topics. The true value can be calculated only on the materials, metals and precious stones, or are we giving a value to object? Can then we give a value to these jewels, although they are made with one of the most ordinary and mundane material, Velcro? (Yes, I’m amazed too). Not only that, the collection represents the designer’s personal perspective on the meaning of beauty, on the relationship between the external beauty, to which we have become victims, and the inner beauty. In short, an entirety of reasons and deep meanings, a sincere reflection that leads to an awesome result. If you are interested in learning more, at this
