A happy coincidence that binds me to the designer Elena Pignata is that we are coming from the same small town in northern Italy, Bra. A city from which evrybody tryes to escape, where the boredom of knowing everything that happens, every face, every person, doesn’t make you hope for high level creative projects. Yet, despite this, and despite having the same age, I didn’t know Elena in person. And I didn’t know what I lost. “Ombradifoglia” is the name of the brand she started in 2006, after various experiences in the fashion field for famous names on the Italian scene. “Orlando”, her latest collection, plays with volumes, overlap and asymmetry. Structured and sculpted pieces, both for man and women, where the sexes are mixed, each taking something from the other, creating androgynous hybrids. An amazing collection, extremely wearable, on the contrary of those who create pieces that seem much more costumes than real clothing.
