A collection that redefines the concept of sculpture dress, bringing it to a higher level.
Sam O’Brien, a young designer based in Brooklyn, NY, who graduated from Pratt Institute in 2013, draws inspiration from the earth and from human relationships, and creates silhouettes that constrain and at the same time free the human body. His first collection reinterprets the texture of the landscapes of Iceland through synthetic materials with a natural look. The lines of the garments are inspired by the symbolism that binds Saturn to the God Cube (in the ancient Semitic and Muslim society it’s in fact portrayed as a big black cube), and explore its various geometric shapes, from three-dimensional, the cube, to two-dimensional, the hexagon. The photos are made by Dominik Tarabanski.
