Woodoir Noir is a jewelry collection created by Croatian designer
Sanja Rotter, which mainly deals with furniture design. The entire line is in fact created from wooden scraps derived from carpentry. The organic shapes of the jewelry are derived from two opposing factors. On one hand, the natural growth of the wood, its knots, possible diseases and parasites that create fluid shapes, growths and roundness. This natural harmony is broken by the geometry of the cut, the result of industrial processings. Therefore, the design follows an order that is not predetermined, which adapts to the randomness of the pieces of wood found in the carpenter’s workshop, an oak dated between 3200 and 6000 years. A collection capable of telling many stories and suggestions, the result of a millennial natural growth combined with the man’s work.
