Turin between Art and Design

Turin between Art and Design

Nov 12 2012, 8:30 am 0 Marco Russo

Yesterday we decided to spend a different Sunday, taking a break from the research and preparation of weekly articles and going on the streets, to see first-hand the events organized by the local scene, a day in Turin between art and design. Unfortunately, time was short, so we chose to focus of two major events: Operae, the self-produced design exhibition, and only a single location of Paratissima. A pleasant day in the complex, which allowed us to become aware of new realities, new designers and talented artists. In the coming days, as usual, we will talk about some projects and works to show you what impressed us the most. Two short personal considerations. Operae, a young event but with a promising future, for its third edition choose a complex of historical buildings of great charm, the Cavallerizza Reale of Turin, a strikingly beautiful place that however limited the event potential and sacrificed the exhibition dedicated to the designers. Instead, a praise goes to the location chosen for Paratissima, the former Moi, the Olympic Village built for the 2006 Winter Olympic Games and later abandoned: a good recovery of degraded buildings destined to be remembered as another waste of public money in Italy. The only downside: a fresh paint on the walls and a clean up could make everything almost perfect.
We leave you with a handful of images, and for those who wish to deepen, from yesterday on our Facebook Fanpage you find a short reportage of about a hundred photographs taken between Operae and Paratissima 2012.
