Furniture solutions certainly unusual, five exhibits pieces conceived by Dutch designer with Asian origins Ka-Lai Chan. A group, carefully selected and customized, of used furniture, inspired by the stories, observations and thoughts of a family and its members. Moments, frozen memories, secrets and taboos that normally every ordinary family tries to hide and not show, revived in the form of artistic interpretations. An art collection consisting of “Julian”, a coffee table, where the recycled plastic melt penetrating into the surface, just like the temptations, alcohol and drugs drag and drown a parent in a psychedelic abyss, “Isabella”, a classic white sidetable, on which are lying gold beads that create a hole in the wood, to symbolize the psyche of a young girl obsessed from outer beauty, “Ana” a rocking horse, “Gabriel” a chair for prayer and finally, “Vincent” a basic and functional chair created by Dutch designer
Richard Hutten. “The Ordinary Family” has been presented in recent days during the contemporary design fair
OBJECT Rotterdam 2012.
