The jewels of the collection Molecular Addictions by Aroha Silhouettes fascinated me not only for their geometric shapes, but also for the story behind their creation. A conceptual series, in which the molecules show the addictions we can have to substances such as drugs (lsd, thc, mdma, cocaine), but also from other habits, much closer to everyday life, such as the intake of nicotine, Chocolate or alcohol. The photography is based on experiments conducted by NASA on spiders, proving that spiders under the influence of substances produced irregular trippy webs, and how this behavior increased with more toxic drugs. Similarly, the hair stylist Alina Friesen created unique looks for each piece of jewelry, asking herself “how might someone style their hair while under the influence of these drugs?”. As the spider webs, the lookbook has distinctive and mismatched hairstyles.
