Button sculptures

I’m gobsmacked by the work of sculptor Augusto Esquivel. This Miami based artist transforms a simple, often forgotten, button into marvellous, mesmerizing sculptures. I’m the most impatient person in the world, so I was thinking of how detail oriented and perfectionist someone have to be to create this kind of thing. Art always surprises me, specially when done with an unexpected material, such as this. The music instruments collection is my favourite! I feel so inspired, and happy to see that there’s still so much to be “discovered”. It kind of reminds of the work of Dutch trio We Make Carpets, that make this gorgeous installations by using simple objects: plastic forks, pasta… Like Augusto Esquivel, they make the primary function of the object disappear, exploring its texture, colour and form in a whole other way. Truly amazing.
