Super Lamb Banana

Super Lamb Banana

What on earth is this blog post about? That’s such an odd title after all … But the Super Lamb Banana is an iconic symbol of one of the biggest and most important cities of England: Liverpool. Yes, some may remember Liverpool as the city where the Beatles came from, but in modern days it has many, many more things to be remembered for. And the Super Lamb Banana is one example. So, I was in Liverpool for the weekend and I came across these pieces of street art that instantly reminded me of the world famous cow parade. The original sculpture was made in 1998 by artist Taro Chiezo and aimed to bring awareness on the dangers of genetically modified food (note the name: Lamb Banana, note the shape). Today, there are several pieces – in smaller scale (the original is seventeen feet tall) – spread around the city, and I feel in love with the ones just outside the marvellous Museum of Liverpool. How not to giggle when looking at them, right?
