Cassette tape canvas

The dayly walk with the Walkman in your pocket, the earphones into your ears and your favorite cassette turned up full blast: only those born after 1990 has a memory like that! I still have my tapes, which now are nothing but a pile of plastic that stares at me sadly from a dusty old box: I can’t really remember the last time I heard one, in truth, but I just can’t part with them …
The collection of tapes of Sami Havia was probably much larger than mine, so much to enable him to carry out the work of which we speak today. The Finnish artist uses these old phonographic media like real canvas: thus combining many of them, creates a basis upon which he paints the most popular albums that have made music history in the 90′s. There are all: Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, Green Day, NOFX, Cypress Hill, Beastie Boys, Rage Against The Machine, Bjork … And you, how many of these historical covers can you recognize?
