I Wear Black Sanctuary

The unexpected encounters, even virtual ones, can really make your day. This is what happened when a few days ago I came across the creations of Susi Thunders. Her jewelry made with crosses and religious symbols are wonderful, and the backgrounds of the photos (vinyls, leather jackets and black lipstick) piqued my curiosity. I decide to write her on Facebook. A few hours later a very friendly girl, with a disarming enthusiasm, answers and send me a small presentation of herself and her works. And opens a window on her enchanted world …
“First of all, I think it is inevitable to start from this to explain what I do: my life turns around a precise imagery, which draws mainly from musical subcultures, especially the old school punk, goth and
dream pop. So this is my greatest source of inspiration. I like to join this world to the more symbolic one of magic and esotericism, and even the occult. Although I believe in God and I love all the religious images, I don’t dislike the occult symbolism. But it’s something purely aesthetic. To give a proper place for the type of imagery that I want to evoke with my work, imagine also the 90 Century childhood, from college, nuns, and days spent running in the meadows. All this has a very melancholy mood, of never experienced eras.”
Here, I am totally conquered … We “chat” a little and I discover that her works in November will be published on TOH! magazine and ELLE (probably in Germany).
