Disneyland on acid

Disneyland on acid

David “Dave” MacDowell is an American self-taught artist. In his debunking (and funny) works, Dave embodies the dark side of the world we live in, overwhelmed by the power that the media are having on humans. His sour and cynical sense of humor has led some to describe his work as “a virtual Disneyland on acid”, and I must admit that this sentence also reflects my point of view. In his paintings we find the myths of cinema, music and television, memorable movie scenes seasoned by elements of mass culture that we all know, love and hate. Great importance is given to the work’s title, in which often resides the sense of the work itself. Today we suggest a selection of his work, but on his site there are many others … We strongly recommend to give it a ride!
