I love it when the line between art, design and fashion becomes so evanescent and creativity explodes in all its strength. The designer I am presenting today is
Yojiro Kake. Born in 1983, Yojiro worked for several years in Japan, where he refined his skills in clothing and pattern making. Tired of an industry too aimed at profit, he makes a decision that changed his life: he leaves Japan, moved to Florence, where he still lives, after graduating from Polimoda International Institute. The spectacular spring/summer 2014 collection is inspired by Ang Lee’s film “Life of Pi”, and incorporates suggestions from the traditional Indian costumes and nautical uniforms. Central elements of the collection are the triangle, reminiscent of sails, geometric lines as opposed to soft draping and floral prints.
