Not long ago I came across these Vilmoncela pen and ink illustrations and I thought I’d share them with you. I really admire the delicate, ethereal quality of these drawings which have a sense of childlike wonder and discovery to them. Artist Vilma captures incredible details of pattern and texture but at the same time makes it look simple and never fussy. Vilma says that she is often inspired by folk art and her use of repeating patterns, texture and geometric elements remind me of Australian aboriginal folk art. I find that each of her drawings tells a story and the more you look, the more you begin to see in her illustrated world of nature, animals and imagination. Have a look at her Etsy shop
