We present the Chinese fashion designer Qiu Hao and his autumn/winter 2011 collection “Serpens”. The line that takes his name was born in 2006, after a course of study and work which includes collaborations, a line of ready-to-wear and a graduation at the Central Saint Martins in London. The first collection meets a great success, with publications in journals such as Vougue, Elle, Haper’s Bazaar, L’Officiel and The Wall Street Journal, and is presented at the Fashion Weeks in Singapore, Paris, Stockholm and Sydney. A success completed in 2010 with the mention of Forbes among the 25 Chinese Fashion people, and in 2011 with the nomination for “Breakthrough Designer Award” at the Global Fashion Awards by WGSN. But let’s talk about the new collection. “Serpens”, which we present here in the beautiful shots by photographer Matthieu Belin, is a tribute to the reptile, its mystery and the fascination and fear it can unveil. Structured garments, fabric sculptures that wrap around the body like a soft armor. Nothing is left to chance: every seam, every fold creates a play of shapes and volumes capable of making these clothes real works of art and fashion.
